363 is our highest-performance waterproofing product. If you want the best waterproofing possible for your building, you want ArmorMembrane 363. 361 is our entry-level dampproofing product. It has a lower price point but it can’t handle water pressure against the building and it just meets code, instead of exceeding it like 363.
A Note on Dampproofing vs. Waterproofing
While the terms dampproofing and waterproofing have been used interchangeably in the past, there is a distinct difference between the two. Dampproofing keeps out soil moisture only, while waterproofing keeps out both soil moisture and liquid water (from rain, snowmelt, hoses, etc.). No matter what climate the building is in, it should be at least dampproofed. However, buildings in wetter climates with high annual rainfalls or high water tables should be waterproofed to ensure protection no matter how much water builds up against the foundation.
